International Federation of Photographic Arts,abbreviated as FIAP, is one of the two major international photography organizations in the world，founded by Dr M Van de Wijer in Bern, Switzerland in 1950, it is the only international photographic organization affiliated with UNESCO. It has 120 national operational members around the world, representing the interests of 2 million professionals and photography enthusiasts worldwide. Headquartered in Luxembourg.

At the outset, it must be said that GPU is not a replacement for local "club" photography where photographers attend on a regular basis and take a full and active role in their "club" or for regional, federation or national level photography.
